I love your interview. I have been telling people about this site and now I have learned more about it so I can better tell people and know what I’m talking about when I show them what I’ve found here. Thanks. HUGS
It is ironic that just today I IM’d MrClean asking him how ITR got started… Listening to The Here’s Help Show with Footy, RT, and Kenny P. was an enlightning experience and answered most of my questions regarding the history of In The Rooms and it’s conception. From the first day I signed on, I felt I had found something of value… Little did I know it would be my lifeline! I was using when I became a member of this website, however I was in denial. The fellowship under which I identified myself was Alanon (for those who have had family members affected by drugs or alcohol.) Just like RT and Kenny said in the interview I tested the waters of recovery here, ITR, and words of recovering addicts started to capture my attention. I began to go to Narcotics Anonymous meetings where I lived in Vermont. My 7th NA meeting took me to Pittsfield, MA where I went to go hear someone speak whom I had heard here ITR via one of the Speaker Tapes provided on this site. That is where I was fortunate to have found my sponsor. Time was becoming critical, and Dr. H. was increasingly encouraging me get into a detox facility as quickly as possible. Kenny as well was making suggestions of possible centers where I could get help. Through ITR I heard about the show A&E Intervention. (I did not get the cable station A&E.) I was watching one of the programs one night on the internet and happened to see the 1 800 Help Line… I called and asked them to do a search in several states, one of which was MA. I was told that there was a detox facility for dual diagnosis patients in Pittsfield, MA called Berkshire Medical Center, McGee Unit. My Higher Power got me there in one piece on June 22, 2009. My clean date is July 7, 2009. I wake up everymornig and sign onto ITR. I write an alphabet gratitude list everyday… I go to a meeting everyday… I have 38 friends ITR. I talk to Kenny everyday and I am so grateful to him. I know he has my back and that I can trust him with my life! I feel so lucky to be a part of this phenomenal recovery website called In The Rooms! We are all so fortunate!!!
