ITR New Features: Forums and Discussions

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

InTheRooms is pleased to announce the addition of Forums to our site. Please take a look at our forums section and post your experience, strength and hope on the spiritual principles and steps. The forums are not fellowship related; they are spiritually related! The forums are also a great place to post pictures and videos found across the web.

In addition to forums, we also made minor changes to the discussions. We now are able to easily find older discussions, and see which discussions are the most popular on the site.

As always, please send your feedback to  support at intherooms.com so we can continue to make InTheRooms the greatest online global recovery community.

Love,
The InTheRooms Team

InTheRooms Holiday Gift Guide

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Here are a few suggestions from InTheRooms users as Holiday gifts for people in recovery:

1) Special Book Covers for Big Book, Basic Text: These book covers make a great gift for anyone who carries their book and their message.

2) Serenity Prayer Blanket: Wrap yourself in warmth, comfort and serenity!

3) Recovery Jewelry: Share your love for recovery by wearing it!

4) The Four Agreements (book): In The Four Agreements, don Miguel Ruiz reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob us of joy and create needless suffering. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, The Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love.

5) A Recovery Journal (book): Early explorers used journals as a way to trace their travels. This journal is no different. It’s a tool for exploring and making discoveries about the uncharted territory of your personal recovery from addiction.

6) Chicken Soup for the Recovering Soul: Whether you are new to recovery or have already experienced profound healing, consider this book your personal support group. Underscoring the tenacity of the human spirit, these stories will provide you with the inspiration for change as others in the recovery community share their true experiences of lives reclaimed, relationships renewed and futures full of promise.

InTheRooms Goes Live!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Attention InTheRooms Members!

Thanks for your participation in the InTheRooms.com beta test! Help us spread the word! We want all of you to start using the site more to communicate with your friends, and we realized a very important fact… most of your friends aren’t on the site yet!

We have a solution to this.  Invite everyone!  This Monday, our website will be going live to the entire internet, and right now we’re ready for the entire world to share their experience, strength, and hope on InTheRooms.com.

Please send an email to anyone you want to invite onto the site, and we invite you to log in this weekend and Monday morning and see some of the great new additions we’ve been working on.

1: There are over 800 speaker tapes in the Speaker Tape library.  Upload your own speaker tapes! Users can have discussions on any of them, tag them, and soon will be able to share them with their friends on their profile.

2: Creating home groups: create an online group for your home group, communicate  and message everyone at the same time

3: List your passions, interests, and hobbies: When filling out the “About” section of your profile, separate items by commas, and when you are in your profile, you can click on your interests and the site will find others that have the same interests as you. Click on a zip code, and see everyone in your area. Click on a home group, and see everyone in your home group.  Click on a treatment center, meet new alumni.  In fact, click on anything in your profile and discover new people.

4: Upload a picture and create a photo album: Add pictures to your profile, instantly share them with everyone you know!

5: Post Comments on other people’s pages: Catch up with your friends quick and easy.

6: Send Messages: Don’t know someone’s email or phone number? No Problem. Just send them a message using InTheRooms!

7: Read daily news on addiction, from all over the world!

8: Connect to others in your fellowship: Check out the fellowship groups and post discussions, comments.  Find and meet new people in your own fellowship!

Coming Soon…

1: Online Speaker Meetings: Weekly meetings on the internet with video, sound, and feedback! Just like a regular meeting, except you can connect with people all over the world! (Any visitors from out of town?…)

2: Global Online Meeting Lists: choose the meetings you attend and see them on a map on your profile.  Share meetings with your friends, notify friends automatically to meet up with you!

3: Sponsor Family Tree: Visually connect everyone in your sponsorship family, see who’s connected to each other, discover and meet new people related to you!

4: More choices for daily meditations: Add different books of meditations to your profile, write your own meditations and share them with your friends!

5: Mobile: Receive messages from your friends, groups, instantly from site to cellphone.

And much much more!

Thank you for helping us make InTheRooms an amazing Global Recovery Community, and always remember that in your recovery and on InTheRooms,
The More you put in, the more you get out of it!

Thanks,
Kenny P and RT
