Veterans In The Rooms

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Submitted by MrClean on July 27, 2009

War takes its toll on the soldiers fighting in them. It always has. We’ve been hearing stories lately of veterans coming home with some significant psychologically related issues. We know that the suicide rates are on the rise as well as the instances of veterans returning home, suffering with alcoholism and drug addiction. Medical care in wartime has been improving to the point that many wounded today, who certainly would have died 30 years ago, are now living - although with major injuries requiring physical rehab and the excruciating pain associated with it. How are these Vets coping with the combination of pain and post traumatic stress disorders? Many are becoming addicted.

Most of the people asking us about this issue want a place to go to discuss it with others. that can share their experience strength and hope on the issue. We’d like to see who’s interested in starting a group for Veterans here InTheRooms.

If you are a Veteran and would like to start the Veterans In The Rooms group, please leave a comment below. If you know anyone who would be interested in this, please send them a message and tell them about this article so that they can leave their name. In addition, If you would like to grab the “bull by the horns” and have the willingness to be the administrator of this group, please step forward and mention that as well!

Recovery Song of The Day

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Submitted by RT on July 27, 2009

Sunlight of The Spirit Music has been gracious enough to share their wealth of Recovery related music with our community. You may have already noticed that on the Home page, on the right side and underneath the “Newcomers” box is the Recovery Song of The Day. Music is spiritual; when we listen it incites emotions, feelings and memories of days past; the artists that have contributed to the Recovery Song of The Day are able to express the joy of Recovery in a very special and distinct manner.

If you like the song you hear, please support Sunlight of The Spirit Music and the Artists who wrote the song by clicking the link “Buy now”.

How to find a meeting using InTheRooms.com

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Submitted by TheDotMack on July 27, 2009

InTheRooms has recently added a large global database of local 12 step fellowship meetings in your area. You can access the meeting database by clicking “Meetings” in the blue menu bar after logging in to InTheRooms.com, or you can type http://meetings.intherooms.com (No WWW) in your browser’s address bar.

When you first see the page, you have the option of browsing the meetings for your fellowship, or searching the site. The great thing about the InTheRooms meeting database is that you can edit and update any page on the site. If you see that any information is incorrect or needs to be updated, just click “edit” and you can update the information yourself.

If you don’t find your meeting, you can click the link on the left hand side of the site and add your meeting to the database. Soon we will be adding a feature that will allow you to share your meetings with your friends on InTheRooms. If you have any suggestions, please leave comments below.
