New Features on InTheRooms.com

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Submitted by TheDotMack on October 14, 2009

You may have noticed some changes going on InTheRooms.com in the past few weeks and I’d like to formally introduce to you some of the new features we have in the community, and give you a preview of what’s to come.

The first and biggest new feature is the “Home Group”.  This is a special set of people that you can select that you may know personally, people from your actual meeting’s home group, sponsees, sponsee family, or whomever. It’s your choice. You can then follow these people much easier by selecting the “Home Group” tab on your home page. We will be adding more communication features to expand on the “Home Group” in the coming months.

You’ll also notice a new tab on the home page that says “Anniversaries”. This shows the list of daily anniversaries and birthdays of all of your friends on InTheRooms. We are going to be adding a feature where you can download all of your friends and home group’s anniversaries to your blackberry or iPhone in the coming months. Don’t forget to go in and congratulate your friends on their accomplishment!

We are also adding new fellowships to the site in the coming weeks. We already added Crystal Meth Anonymous, Nicotine Anonymous, and Self-Mutilators Anonymous with more fellowships on the way. We are committed to a diverse global recovery community and a lot of good information can be found on these fellowship pages regarding these various afflictions.

In the coming months, InTheRooms.com will be adding some great new features.  Very soon we will be rolling out our new InTheRooms blogging platform, where members can share their experience, strength, and hope in their own personal journal.

We are also adding a new section called Recovery Resources, a sort of “InTheRooms List”, a place where members can look for goods and services by the recovering community, for the recovering community.

If you have any suggestions for improving your experience on InTheRooms, please post them in the comments, and please stay tuned as more will be revealed on InTheRooms.com!

With Love,

Recovering Couples Anonymous 2009 Florida Convention

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Submitted by HarmonyCouple on October 14, 2009

Recovering Couples Anonymous is a fellowship of recovering couples. We are committed to restoring healthy communication and caring and, as we do this, we find greater joy and intimacy.

Many of us participate in other 12-Step Fellowships. We share our experience, strength, and hope with each other that we may solve our common problems and help other recovering couples restore their relationships. The only requirement for RCA membership is a desire to remain in a committed relationship.

ITR Spotlight: Rick Finkelstein

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Submitted by RT on October 14, 2009

Rick Finkelstein has resided in South Florida for over forty years, and has battled addiction for most of his life. Now, with more than four years clean and fifteen years in the making, he is ready to share his new book entitled “Inspirational Poetry for Your Recovery.” Although at first glance it appears to be just a poetry book, it isn’t. His is an interactive book that encourages the reader to get involved in their own recovery. It enables anyone who reads the book to identify and write down what they are feeling and going through. With sections throughout, room on the pages, and a journal in the back, the reader can start to put the pen to paper and begin or further their healing process.

Rick’s passion for recovery, along with his tireless dedication to helping people, is the driving force behind the book. His poetry is based on his own experiences through using and recovery. The message that is conveyed through his work is hope, that anyone, no matter who they are or where they come from, can receive the gift of recovery.

Rick can be found here on In The Rooms, as well as FaceBook, and YouTube where he has 23 videos.
Rick Finkelstein: “It Is only with the help of others, the program, my family, and most of all my Higher Power that I am here today, living the dream - ready and willing to help anyone seeking this way of life…Keep the Faith.”
