The Monkey Club started much like a lot of things in Recovery. If the the people think it is a good idea, it will last.

First, I take no credit for the success for the “First Club” on InTheRooms. The Club would never be the success it is if it was not the support  from InTheRooms, and of course people like you that make the Club what it is.

The Club was originally started when I posted a Monkey picture on my profile, just for fun. And I can remember, the jokes were flying that day. I started thinking this would be cool, if we could do this every Monday. For some of us Monday is not the best day of the week, and if we could lighten things up a bit, we could help those that are not doing so well.

As with any group club or fellowship, we needed a purpose. I could remember, when I came to ITR’s and for me it was kinda overwhelming. I thought the Monkey Club could be kind of a Welcome Wagon, for new members to ITR’s. I believe the main purpose of The Club is to help new members with the site. If people are having problems with finding the speaker tapes, or uploading a profile picture, or whatever situation they be having, it would be nice to have a Manic Monkey there to help.

Then I thought we need something that would identify us as a Club. So we developed the first Monkey Club Tradition, we ask as many Monkeys as possible to post Monkey avatars. The Monkey club tries to have as much fun as possible. We do this so we can show people that are new in Recovery, that we can have fun.

Some time ago we started a Theme Game. This game started as a Quiz on one of my postings and it is like I said, if the need is there. The Theme Game would not be the success it is, if it were not for the InTheRooms T-Shirt that was donated by ITR’s for a Prize, and thank you, and for the members that enjoy, (or not enjoy) playing The Theme Game. I know now that or some people this Game can be somewhat confusing to learn how to play, and for that, I am sorry. If you are having trouble, please message myself, and I will try to help you.

It is because of some of the confusion this Game has, that we decided we are going to have a new game. The new game is going to be called “The Book Study Game.” The game will be based on The Big Book, and The Basic Text. I will be posting “How IT Works” at a later date. I will give you a ***HINT*** start reading your books. I believe The Book Study Game will be more of a success than The Theme Game, for it will be easier to play. And I will wish everyone Luck, now.

On a personal note. I am truly Blessed for all the people I have met from The Club. And I am forever Grateful for your support, understanding, patience and Love.

Please remember, we all new at one time and I know I owe it to the new ITR member to try and be as useful as I can be to that person.

Beginning this coming Monday, InTheRooms is going to be mailing out a brand new feature, directly to your inbox. The InTheRooms Daily Mediation is a compilation of spiritual meditations designed to help you get centered for your day.

We had planned on including meditations written by ITR members, but most of the submissions were copied from other places. We had a lot of submissions from members of Daily Meditations and we weren’t necessarily clear as to what we were looking for. We want YOU to write your own ORIGINAL daily meditations to include in this email.

 InTheRooms.com, the mobile Internet was still in its infancy, however nowadays more and more people are logging in and getting information from their handheld devices on a daily basis.

We built InTheRooms mobile as a mobile website and not an “app” initially, because we want everyone to be able to access the wealth of information and support that our community provides. The mobile site looks best on an iPhone, Android, New Blackberry, or Palm Pre family devices, however we paid extra attention to make sure the site will be accessible from any phone, not just smartphones.

As of today, our status feed, profiles, friends, groups and discussions are available on the mobile site. We plan on adding photo galleries next.

When you type InTheRooms.com into your cell phone’s web browser, the mobile site will automatically load. Please log in and let us know what you think! We want to know how we can improve this experience for our community!
